ID BOYS: Wallace Signs With NDNU

May 1st, 2006

Centennial senior middie Neil Wallace has signed a national letter of intent to play NCAA Division II lacrosse at Notre Dame de Namur University.

Wallace, 17, will be getting $22,000 a year in athletic and academic scholarship money to attend NDNU, he said. Wallace chose NDNU over Brigham Young.

"NDNU seemed to be a better chance to get noticed more, and it was a chance to play Division II lacrosse," Wallace said.

Wallace, who has scored 20 goals and compiled 20 assists in helping the 19th-ranked Patriots to a 7-0 start, is the second Centennial player to commit to an NCAA lacrosse program. Teammate Krieg Shaw announced last month that he will play NCAA Division III lacrosse at King's College.

"I think people are giving (Idaho lacrosse) a lot less credit than we deserve," Wallace said. "In four years, we've come a long way. This is the first class of kids that started playing in middle school, so we're seeing a huge explosion in the talent level out here."
