AZ GIRLS: Caitlyn O'Brien Signs With George Washington
Desert Mountain senior middie Caitlyn O’Brien has signed a national letter of intent to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at George Washington University.
O’Brien said she chose the Washington, D.C.-based school over UC Davis after making her official visits.
“I really loved all the other girls and all the other recruits,” O’Brien said. “I really loved the city. I plan on majoring in journalism, so it had what I was looking for academically as well.”
Although she plays middie on her high school team, O'Brien is a defender on her travel club team, X Team. O’Brien, has been given a partial athletic scholarship, and said she is thrilled to have the chance at playing at a higher level.
“I’m really excited, because right now on my high school team, it’s really hard to get girls to play,” O’Brien said. “I’m really excited to play with girls I can be challenged by and have the intensity of play that I really want.”
