Cathedral Catholic senior goalie Kelly McCarthy has signed a national letter of intent to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at UC Berkeley.

McCarthy is one of 12 players to commit to the Golden Bears during the early-signing period, and she is one of three San Diego County-based players who will join the UC Berkeley team next fall. McCarthy played her club lacrosse with the Wildcat Elite program.

A school news release indicated McCarthy could start as a freshman.

McCarthy “will come in looking to challenge for the starting spot,” the news release reads. “McCarthy is a workhorse on and off the field. She is constantly looking for ways to improve her game.”
