SoCAL BOYS: Hayden Schuette Signs With Denver
Santa Fe Christian senior attackman Hayden Schuette has signed a national letter of intent to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at the University of Denver.
Schuette said he chose Denver over Cornell, Ohio State, Bucknell, Dartmouth and Brown because of its proximity to Southern California and because he felt a bond with the coaching staff.
“I liked the coaches a lot,” Schuette said. “I really liked the atmosphere compared with most of the schools back East, and like having the opportunity to play with a top Division I team.”
Schuette has been one of the San Diego area’s top scorers since his freshman season. In 2008, he compiled 86 points on 69 goals and 17 assists. Since his freshman season, Schuette has scored 173 goals and dished 42 assists.
“First year, I’ll definitely be learning, but I’d like to make an impact my freshman year,” said Schuette, who will be receiving a partial athletic scholarship. “I just look forward to learning the style they play out there, and I look forward to hopefully winning some conference championships and a national championship.”
