SoCAL BOYS: Spencer Peterson Commits to Duke

La Costa Canyon senior defenseman/long-stick middie Spencer Peterson has committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at Duke University.
Peterson, who helped lead the Mavericks to the CIF-San Diego Section title last season, said he chose Duke over Lehigh, Penn, Brown and Dartmouth.
“I’ve wanted to go there since freshman year,” Peterson said. “I went to a camp there, and it just stood out to me, not only as a good academic school but as a great athletic school in not only lacrosse but in various different sports.”
Peterson said he is amped to take his game to the powerful Atlantic Coast Conference.
“It’s going to be fun,” he said. “I’m kind of seeing myself as an underdog out there. But I think that’s going to be better, because I’ll work that much harder.”
