MINN HS: Joe Costello Promoted at Mahtomedi
February 12th, 2008
Mahtomedi High School has named Joe Costello as the new head coach of its boys varsity lacrosse team.
Costello, 24, takes over for Charlie Rubenstein, who led the Zephyrs to a 10-3 record last season.
A native of Winnetka, Ill., Costello played one season of NCAA Division III lacrosse at the College of Wooster as a middie in 2003, he said. He also played one season of college club lacrosse at the University of Colorado in 2005.
Costello was an assistant coach under Rubenstein last season, and this will be his first varsity head coaching job.
"I'm very excited for the season," Costello said. "I think we've got an extensive pool of talent this year, and I'm just excited to be part of the program."
