MO HS: Ron Kelam Promoted at St. Louis Jesuit
November 7th, 2007
St. Louis University Jesuit High School has named Ron Kelam as the new head coach of the school's boys varsity lacrosse team.
Kelam, 29, replaces Robert Palmer, who led SLUH to a 10-6 record and a quarterfinal appearance in the Missouri state playoffs last season.
A native of Manchester, Mo., Kelam is a 1996 graduate of DeSmet Jesuit, where he played four years of varsity lacrosse as a middie from 1993 to 1996, he said. In college, Kelam played one season of fall ball at the club level at the University of Kansas in 1996.
As a coach, Kelam has been a varsity assistant the past four seasons at SLUH. From 2000 to 2003, he was the varsity head coach at Parkway South, and prior to that he served as head coach of the freshman team at DeSmet Jesuit for four seasons.
"It should be a pretty smooth transition," Kelam said. "I've played a large part in the coaching and dealing with the board for the last four years. It's the same game plan."
