LINCOLN, Neb. -- Junior attackman Dan Callahan scored seven goals and dished one assist to lead Nebraska to a 20-9 victory over visiting Northwestern College in a Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference game Saturday afternoon.
Freshmen middie Brian Bean and sophomore middie Scott Moyer scored four goals apiece, and freshmen attackman Chris Mack scored three goals and added an assist to help pace Nebraska (6-1).
Callahan once again took over early, helping lead the Huskers to their highest single-game score in the program's history. Callahan not only turned in a strong offensive performance, he even stepped between the pipes when Nebraska's goalie earned a personal foul. The Raiders (0-2) never went away, but couldn't match the production of a balanced Nebraska attack.
"This was another big conference win for us," Nebraska head coach Nate Hoeckelman said. "We did a better job of spreading the wealth and keeping our offense balanced."
In a losing effort, junior attackman Evan DeHoogh scored five goals, and senior middie Ben Crabtree scored three goals.
"Both teams came out and played hard," DeHoogh said. "It was a little sloppy at times, but overall a hard-fought game."
