MEN: Unbeaten Texas Downs Oklahoma For Fourth Straight Win

February 18th, 2007

Freshman attackman Tyler Nix and sophomore middies Alex Kroviak and Paul McCloud all registered four points to lead unbeaten Texas to a 10-3 victory over Oklahoma in a Lone Star Allliance North Division game Sunday afternoon.

Nix scored three goals and added an assist, and Kroviak and McCloud each had two goals and two assists to lead the Longhorns (4-0) to their fourth straight win and third win this weekend. Junior attackman Matt Tuttle, sophomore middie Bryan Howe and junior defenseman Ernst Leiss all scored single goals for Texas.

Oklahoma (1-4) lost its fourth straight.

Texas controlled the game from the start. The Longhorns led 3-0 at the end of the first quarter, 6-0 at halftime and 10-1 going into the fourth quarter.

Still, despite the easy victory, Texas Coach Noah Fink was not satisfield with his team's play.

"Actually, we played pretty poorly," Fink said. "We could make excuses about this being the third game of the weekend, but the simple fact is we just need to stay sharp and play better lacrosse."
