MINN HS: Lakeville Girls Hire Dan McHugh
February 8th, 2007
Lakeville High School has named Dan McHugh as the new head coach of its girls varsity lacrosse team.
McHugh, 49, replaces Lance Kuehn, who led Lakeville to a 5-4 record last season. Lakeville competed as a club team in 2006 but will be a school-sanctioned varsity program for the first time in 2007. There will be 32 school-sanctioned girls lacrosse programs in Minnesota this year.
A native of Crystal, Minn., and a 1975 graduate of Robbinsdale High School, McHugh has several years experience coaching boys lacrosse. Most recently, he was an assistant coach at St. Thomas Academy in 2005 and 2006.
In 2003 and 2004, he was the head boys varsity coach at Prior Lake, and in 2002 McHugh was an assistant coach at Prior Lake. In 2000 and 2001, McHugh was an assistant coach of the boys team at Lakeville.
This will be his first job coaching girls lacrosse.
"I have two daughters who are up and coming and playing lacrosse in Lakeville," McHugh said. "I switched over to help them, plus there was a need here in Lakeville. There was nobody else with the right qualifications who applied for the job."
