LOU BOYS: Matt Volentine Commits to Fontbonne

January 15th, 2007

Loyola College Prep senior attackman Matt Volentine has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Fontbonne University, Fontbonne Coach Nick Silva said.

Volentine is the top player on the Shreveport-based, private-school team that plays in the Texas High School Lacrosse League. Loyola Coach Dan McLendon described him in the fall as an all-around solid player who has All-State potential this season.

Silva said he likes Volentine for his lacrosse skills and for his skills in the classroom.

"He is a very bright individual who is a member of the National Honor Society and will graduate with above a 4.0 grade-point average," Silva said. "He stood out to me at the Texas 99 camp last summer in Houston, as he definitely attacks the cage very hard. His ability to read offensive situations fits very well with what we're trying to build here out Fontbonne."
