Millard West High School has named Will Gilner as the new head coach of its boys' lacrosse team.

Gilner, 35, replaces Pat Kelsey, who led the Wildcats to a 7-6 record last season. Kelsey's career record at Millard West was 14-7.

A native of Baltimore, Md., Gilner lettered in varsity lacrosse at the Gilman School, which competes in the powerful Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association. In college, he played club lacrosse at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

Gilner coached Northwestern's club team for three seasons, and he has coached the men's club team at Creighton University since 2003. Gilner also serves as the Division B Director for the Great Plains Lacrosse Conference.

This will be Gilner's first head coaching position with a high school varsity team.
