LOU-TEX HS: Evangel Academy Placed on Probation
November 8th, 2006
The Evangel Christian Academy boys lacrosse team has been placed on one-year's probation from the Texas High School Lacrosse League because of unsportsmanlike play during the 2006 season, North District Division II coordinator Jay Widdig said.
Evangel will not be eligible to qualify for the Division II state playoffs in 2007, Widdig said. All Evangel's games this season will be deemed scrimmages and not count toward league standings.
Evangel Academy is based in Shreveport, Louisiana but is among a handful of Louisiana schools that play in the Texas High School Lacrosse League.
"When they show us they can play nice, we'll let them back into the league," Widdig said. "But they're still a team."
