Adrenaline Sin City Showdown: Day 1
December 4th, 2011
The Showdown is just one stop on the Adrenaline Tournament Series tour and provides programs of any talent level the opportunity to come out and compete in a fantastic atmosphere. The Tournament Series, which brings events to Casa Grande (AZ), Austin, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, and an undetermined location in Utah, is paired with the highly regarded Fighting Irish Coaching Clinic Series. The clinic series, which is exclusive to the ATS, features members of the University of Notre Dame coaching staff, and is complimentary to all team coaches in attendance. The clinics include full presentations on offensive, defensive, and position-specific coaching concepts, and provide a unique opportunity for coaches to get a jump on the newest and most advanced techniques and strategies in the world of lacrosse.

DAY 1 RECAP

With the immense success of last year’s inaugural Sin City Showdown, Adrenaline Lacrosse and LXM PRO had their work cut out for them to achieve the level of hype this year’s event was garnering in the lacrosse world. The weekend, filled both with action packed lacrosse at the youth, middle school, and high school level as well as LXM PRO Tour’s latest stop, had the potential to be one of 2011’s premier lacrosse events. As far as we can tell, the sporadic gusts of cold wind may have been the only minor downside of Day 1 of the Showdown.
This stop on the Adrenaline Tournament series features over 50 teams playing against the beautiful backdrop of the Nevada mountains. Beginning at 8am, dozens of fields at two locations adjacent to UNLV’s football stadium introduced some of the West’s best talent to Las Vegas and these premier players certainly did not disappoint those in attendance. Maverik Lacrosse, chief sponsor of the Adrenaline All-American game, was eager to further align themselves with Adrenaline and in sponsoring the Sin City Showdown, it has substantiated its growing brand as one synonymous with Adrenaline’s Tournament Series.
Maverik Lacrosse's Western Representative, Hamilton Pollard, was thrilled with the events of Day 1. “We signed on with the Sin City Showdown to further substantiate our presence in the West, an area we have identified as experiencing tremendous growth. It is incredibly apparent that the talent in the Western States is growing exponentially and Maverik is excited to be a part of that growth.”
Action promptly stopped at The Showdown at 12:30pm, as walls sprouted up around one of the center fields and tournament go-ers, funneled into the stands and lined the sidelines for the latest stop on the LXM PRO TOUR. Featuring many of the top names in the sport, the thousands in attendance witnessed an exciting game of back and forth action that resulted in a two-goal victory by Team Cascade over Team HeadWrapz. Hard checks, crafty stickwork, and non-stop ball movement gave those in attendance an hour of fast paced lacrosse that drew cheers from those young and old. The intimate game setting seemed to enhance the already advanced level of play, and LXM organizers maintained that today’s game had one of the best in-game atmospheres of any LXM PRO event thus far.
POST-GAME CHAT WITH LXM PRO’S KYLE HARRISON

West Side Lax had a chance to sit down with Kyle Harrison, one the main men behind LXM Pro Tour. Here’s what he had to say about LXM Pro 702:
Kyle Harrison: I’m very proud of how far we’ve come as a brand and the product we are able to put on the field during each LXM PRO event. For me, each event provides its own unique set of circumstances. The LXM crew has been here since Wednesday, working diligently to ensure that this event was a success. I love that part of the process…production meetings, going out into the community and creating a buzz in cities around the country, and seeing our players come into town each Friday night excited about another opportunity to compete against one another.
WSL: What is your favorite part of the LXM PRO experience at this point, both as an organizer and a player?
The nature of the pro lacrosse world is such that most of us come from very similar backgrounds. As collegiate athletes, we all had national championship aspirations and at the pro level, there is always more of the same. I’ve played at the highest level, being fortunate enough to take part in national championships seasons, experiencing success at the pro level, and the honor of representing my country in te World Championships. But most of my fondest memories are at summer ournaments such a Vail or Lake Placid, where fans lining the sidelines are literally right on top of you and the intimate settings make for unforgettable experiences. With LXM, we want to invoke that same feeling with everyone who attends our events.
WSL: So what’s next for the LXM brand moving forward?
KH: The number of yearly LXM events has continued to grow since our inception. Ultimately, our main goal is to continue to increase the frequency of our events and continue to captivate audiences with the best brand of lacrosse around. We already have eight events locked up in 2012 and we are dedicated to continuing to garner top-notch talent and provide talented professionals with an opportunity to showcase their talents at our events year round.
Among other things, what separates us from other professional leagues is the fact that we not only want to attract talented lacrosse players, we want our rosters filled with guys posessing the right mix of personality and passion for the game.
Stay tuned for LXM highlights later this week on West Side Lax from Game Time Productions.
