AZ BOYS: Zeric Butters Commits to Army

Corona del Sol senior goalie Zeric Butters has committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Butters said he chose Army over Canisius for a variety of reasons.

“I picked Army because it’s one of the best schools in the world,” Butters said. “Also, I’ve wanted to serve my whole life. To be able to go play lacrosse, attend a great academic school and serve when I’m done, it’s a like I’m killing three birds with one stone.”

Butters added that he thinks he’ll be ready to take on the college game.

“I’ve traveled to the East Coast for numerous tournaments,” Butters said. “I think I’ll go up there, play my game and get better as the season goes by. I’ve seen the East Coast players play, and I’ve hung in there.”
