AZ BOYS: Zack Olsen Commits to Aurora University
April 20th, 2010
Boulder Creek senior middie Zack Olsen has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Aurora University.
Olsen said he also considered Wooster, Washington & Jefferson, St. Vincent and Grand Canyon before settling on the fledgling program at the Illinois-based school. Aurora will take the field for the first time in the spring of 2011.
“I liked the coach a lot,” Olsen said. “I started the program here at Boulder Creek, and they have a brand-new program at Aurora, so I think it’s a unique opportunity.”
Olsen, who is the first player from Boulder Creek to ever commit to an NCAA program, said he believes he is prepared to make the transition to the college game.
“It’s definitely a different mindset,” he said. “Your season’s a lot longer, and the competition’s a lot tougher, so you have to prepare mentally a lot different than you do for high school.”
