TEX BOYS: Westwood Downs McCallum in Season Opener, 12-3

Sophomore attackman Nick Ierullo finished with a game-high five points on four goals and one assist to lead Westwood to a 12-3 victory over McCallum in a Texas High School Lacrosse League Central District interdivisional game Tuesday night.

Junior attackman Sam Jones added four points on two goals and two assists, junior middie Pierce Ingram and sophomore attackman Kent Holmstrom each scored a pair of goals, and senior middie Keane Richardson had a goal and an assist for Division I Westwood (1-0), which won its season opener.

Westwood junior middie Scott Morenz scored a goal, and junior middie Tyler Tasset and freshman attackman Ben Clougher each dished one assist.

In a losing effort, senior middie John Uhl scored a team-high two goals, and junior attackman Andy Uhl had a goal for Division II McCallum (0-1), which lost its season opener.

Westwood led 4-1 at the end of the first quarter, 8-1 at halftime and 10-1 going into the fourth quarter.

“Considering Westwood is probably one of the top Division I teams in Central Texas, I wasn’t unhappy with the effort,” McCallum Coach Greaven Graham said. “But we have a lot of work to do on offense and transition defense. Unsettled situations is where they beat us.”
