MURRIETA, Calif. -- Highland Park’s boys lacrosse team and Cherry Creek’s girls lacrosse team are both ranked No. 1 in the first STX-WSL Top 25 Rankings of the season.

Highland Park, which won its season opener decisively over the weekend, is currently on a 14-game overall winning streak and a 25-game winning streak against in-state competition. The two-time defending state champion Fighting Scots finished the 2009 season as the Western United States’ top-ranked team.

Cherry Creek is WSL’s preseason No. 1 girls team for the fourth consecutive season. The Bruins went wire-to-wire as the No. 1 girls team in the West in 2007 and 2008, and they finished 2009 as the No. 2 ranked team after losing in the Colorado state championship game.
