AS: Vegas Elite Downs Mile High All-Stars for 5th Straight Win

July 18th, 2009

Attackman Chris Forte scored a game-high four goals to lead Vegas Starz Elite to a 10-5 victoy over the Mile High All-Stars in both teams’ final game of first-round play in the Adrenaline Shootout at Sonoma State University on Saturday morning.

Middies Chris Osip and Jet Harding each added three points on two goals and an assist to help Las Vegas (5-1) win its fifth straight. Vegas hasn’t lost since dropping its opener to the unbeaten San Diego Tropics (6-0).

With the win, Las Vegas finished the first round in a tie for second place with the Arizona Starz (5-1) in the 12-team Adrenaline Division.

Attackman Conner White had a goal and an assist, attackman Ryan Hanners dished a pair of assists and attack-middie Eric Jones scored once for Las Vegas. In all, nine Vegas players registered at least one point, as eight of the Starz 10 goals were assisted.

“It’s a lot of teamwork,” Forte said. “That’s when we do our best. Our passing has been great.”

In defeat, middie Matt Florence finished with a co-game-high four points on three goals and an assist, and attackman Tyler Standley and middie Nicholas Hillier each scored once for Mile High (2-3-1), which had its three-game unbeaten run ended.

Mile High finished the first round tied for seventh place in the division with Beach Head LC (2-3-1).

Vegas led 7-5 after Hillier scored an unassisted goal with 14 minutes to play in regulation, but the Starz answered with a game-ending, three-goal run to win going away.

Jones, Forte and Harding all scored in the final eight minutes.
