WOMEN: Utah Adding Women's Club Program in '11

June 22nd, 2010

The University of Utah is adding women’s lacrosse.

In the spring of 2011, the women’s lacrosse club program at the university will be a part of the Rocky Mountain Women’s Lacrosse League (RMWLL) and Women’s Division Intercollegiate Associates (WDIA).

“There are over 900 girls playing competitive lacrosse at the high school level in Utah,” Director of Ute Women’s Lacrosse Glen Shurtleff said in a release. “It’s only logical there should be more opportunities for these girls to continue lacrosse at the collegiate level without having to leave Utah. Combining the opportunity to play women’s lacrosse with the University of Utah’s educational opportunities, including the full range of academic majors, provides the best opportunities for these future college athletes.”
