U-15 Nationals
I want to say that U-15 National team did very well even though they only won one game. They did play against two of the four teams that made it to the Final Four. They played teams from Maryland, Virgina, New Jersey, Florida and Nor-Cal.
These players have nothing to be sad about, hold your heads up high, you played tough teams under some very tough conditions.
These young men will be better players and better gentleman for the experience... they now know what it takes to get to the next level. This was fantastic.
I know I know we will have some critics, if you think that you or your son were a better player than the boys on this team, than how come you did not try out?? enough said about that bullshit.
I want to say a heart felt thank you to Lisa, Bryan, Coach Yokum and Coach Ferrin for all your hard work and passion in putting this team together. Koodos to you and all the parents who made this possible for these young men to go and experience such a wonderful event. I feel sorry for the ones who missed out.
The highlight of the trip was the coming together of the players and parents of both Utah and Virgina teams after their consolation games on 'Wednesday afternoon in the 96 dergree heat with 95% humidity. What a way to honor the game boys.

Utah Starz - Sonoma?
The Utah Starz claim on their website that they went to the Adrenaline Elite Tournament in Sonoma and placed in their division winning their last 4 games. They also say that another Utah team was winless at the same event. This team was Utah Elite.
If they truly went to the tournament as the Utah Starz, why aren't they listed in the results posted for the event?

We just got back from Sonoma.
We just got back from Sonoma. There was one Utah team and they were winless and really pretty bad. The Starz teams there from Vegas (2 of them), Del Mar, and Colorado Stars (winless), and btw only the top 2 teams in each group made the winners bracket. All the rest of us played in the consolation tournament.
The Dirty Dozen had guys from 4 states including Idaho and Utah. I saw at least one Park City helmet on that team. My guess is they are taking credit for this team even though it has no Starz connection.
Taking Credit where Credit isn't due
So there was an at large team at Sonoma with Starz kids on it, apparently that means it is a starz team. I swear when i watched them play their jerseys said D12 for the Dirty Dozen on them. The club lacrosse world in Utah is getting so full of crap that the Starz are lying on their website, I have never looked at it before and now I wont again. The fact is the Utah team was Utah Elite and they got schooled, the Starz didn't go only a few of their kids oh and kids from Select were on it too I wonder if they are claiming the same success at the event. I wonder if the Cali kids on D12 know they were playing on the Starz? Give it up club teams in Utah just pick your kids and leave it at that, dont make up stories you just sound dumb.

judge and brighton
Easily Judge and Brighton. THey both return very good goalies that can keep them in games. They both return almost all of their starters.
Brighton vs....
Its amusing that there are posts about who could or could not beat Brighton in the championship. C'mon guys. The game is over, Brighton wins! Everyone in the top 10 had a shot at them except for Lone Peak. (Didn't Brighton's JV tie Lone Peak's varsity in the Beetdigger???)
I especially like the comments about the teams that took Brighton 'out of their game'. Get real. 13 goals against Bonneville, 14 against PG, 14 against Waterford, even 10 against PC is not taking them out of their game. PC is the only team in the playoffs to hold Brighton below their season average of 11.71.
Defensively, only PG and PC (first game) got close to double digits with 9 goals. Seriously.... Holding PC to 7 in the championship certainly did not take Brighton's defense out of their game.
Also, Mersereau's contribution to PC in the championship was not at the face-off. In fact, the draws were nearly even with a slight edge going the PC. On the other hand, Mersereau was PC's offense! The other guys stood around and watched him work. He was a stud in the championship!
I am also wondering about the penalties...Brighton had 11 penalities against Judge which might explain the low score. From what I understand Judge did not score manup but Brighton did score man down. I don't think you can make the case that Brighton's success was du to extrordinay manup play.
Brighton was the most complete team we saw in UT this season. Great job Bengals!

They were probably the best threat to beat Brighton even though they got killed at the beginning of the season...But we'll never know.

Best chance to beat Brighton... sadly no.
That honor goes to Pleasant Grove, Park City and even Waterford before I'd give it to Alta. The key to beating Brighton was to make them play a style of lacrosse that they weren't used to and make them get out of their game plan.
PG was tied with Brighton mid way through the 3rd before Brighton got on a run. PG dominated fac-offs controlled the clock and never let Brighton get away. PG kept Brighton out of it's game plan on offense and defense. Lack of depth and experience caught up with them in the end.
PC used a similar formula except they gave up a mini run in the 2nd that they couldn't answer because of sloppy passing. Matt M. dominated face-offs and defensively PC was very physical.
Waterford had no defense (no offense Ravens fans), but they had an offense that could win face-offs and score goals. In the end it was the lack of defense that caught up with them.
Now your rebutle is going to be that Alta beat both Waterford and PC head to head which is true. But the PC game was a coin flip, the final was 6 to 5 or close to that. Waterford ran out of depth which if you ask any opposing coach that beat them that is the way to do it. Keep Mika and Franco on the field and run them until they can't run anymore. Handle Oli at X and bump a pole to the midfield.
Alta is very young and talented and next year their Coach of the Year will have a little more experience and Baldassari will be a few more inches taller.
Congrats to Brighton on a 2010 season VERY well played, and best of luck to all in 2011. See you on the sidelines.
You must be blind
I don't know what your definition of "dominating" is but 10-10 on face offs hardly seems like PC dominated. Sounds like they were dead even, and it was a battle everytime. Also I don't know if you are a PG fan, coach, or player BUT either way you weren't paying close attention to the game. Brighton won 15 and PG won 12. Using your wacky definition of "dominating" I'd say Brighton was dominating PG. To me it seems like it was fairly even but brightons guy had the edge. You should try waking up and watching the game, before coming on here and bagging on the Undisputed State Champs. It makes you look stupid.
What Killed PC
We were worried about Park City, but what killed them was 7 minutes of playing man down. Remember they had the 3 min penalty do to illegal stick. and then they had 3 1min penalities. No team can come back from that.
We scored 3 goals in the 7 min of penalities in 2nd qrt. plus they had 8 turnovers in which we scored 3 goals off those.
So if you take away those 4 of the 6 goals we scored Park City wins 7 to 6.
Brighton and Park City were the two best teams in Div 1,
Hands down you can talk of what could have been but face it Alta did not get it done

Pretty sure every game I went to brighton was man DOWN more than anything? Props to their man down defense though, Davis really knew how to shut a team down. And Alta, clearly they have trouble controlling their checks it killed them all season

What a joke a player that scored easy points against weak teams and did not take his team to the finals gets to go to Senior Show Case to represent Utah.
If he is that good he better score his average during each of the games he plays in.

Shout out to the 2010 D1 State Champ Brighton Bengals. All year you have shown that talented individual players playing for the success of the team leads to victory. An undefeated season playing all of the very best teams in the state. The strength of Utah lacrosse continues to grow and will again next year, and that is fantastic for the lacrosse community. All of the talk all year that anyone could win it and that Brighton would not take it all, yet we didn't hear from you, except for on the field. Congratulations on your 2010 State Championship!

Taylor Elton is one of the best d poles in the state, watching him play this year I only saw him get beat one on one once or twice the only reason people that he was guarding scored was in transition or when he slid. It just shows that you don't get any respect at d pole unless you do absurd takeaway checks you can't just play good shutdown d

Taylor is a beast. He is one of the most solid defenders in the state. It's a shame that his dad isn't a head coach, and he doesn't play select or play with lots of finesse and crazy checks or else, by this year's standards, he would have been all american.
