The Arizona Youth Lacrosse League has expanded its top-flight division to 15 teams.

All 12 programs that played in Division I last year will continue to do so in 2010. They will be joined by Division II champion Tucson Salpointe, Division II runner-up Horizon and the Mesa Heat, all of whom have been promoted.

They will join Brophy Prep, Chandler, Chaparral, Corona del Sol, Desert Mountain, Desert Vista, Highland, Gilbert, Hamilton, Mountain Pointe, Saguaro and Tucson Tanque Verde.

Because of the influx, the playoffs have also been expanded, sources said. In 2010, eight teams will qualify for the postseason, up from six the past several years.
