COL BOYS: Regis Junior Tanner Ottenbreit Commits to Virginia
March 19th, 2010
Regis Jesuit junior defenseman Tanner Ottenbreit has committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at the University of Virginia.
Ottenbreit is one of two Regis Jesuit juniors to commit to Virginia. When he gets to the Charlottesville campus, he will be joined by goalie Rhody Heller.
“He’s tremendously athletic,” Regis Jesuit head coach Jim Soran said of Ottenbreit. “He has great anticipation, he’s physical, he’s got a nice stick, he moves the ball extremely well and he can be an offensive threat too.”
Defense is apparently in Ottenbreit’s blood. A standout three-sport athlete, Ottenbreit is also a defensive back on the school’s football team and a defenseman on the ice hockey team.
Soran said he believes Ottenbreit will be a successful college lacrosse player.
“I think he’ll do well,” Soran said. “I think it’s a good fit for him. The style will fit him. He’s a decent student. He’ll do well there.”
