TEX BOYS: Stratford-Westchester vs. Katy Game Suspended
Tuesday afternoon’s Texas High School Lacrosse League South District Division II season opener between Katy and Stratford-Westchester was suspended due to darkness with 5:44 remaining in the third quarter.
Stratford-Westchester leads, 7-5, and the game will be finished later in the season, Spartans head coach Matt Carr said. Carr said he believes the game will resume at the end of February, but a specific date and time will be confirmed later.
There are no lights at Stratford-Westchester’s home field, where the game was played, and the game ran long because of a long delay due to an injury.
A Katy player was taken to the hospital as a precaution after being the recipient of an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit, Carr said. An unnecessary-roughness penalty was called on the hit, and Katy will have a man-up advantage when the game resumes.
