Juan Diego Catholic senior attackman Stephen Dunn has committed to play NCAA Division II lacrosse at Mesa State College.

Dunn said he also considered Division I Air Force and Division II Notre Dame de Namur before settling on the fledgling Grand Junction, Colo.-based program. Mesa State will take the field for the first time in the spring of 2011.

“I loved the campus, I loved the coach, it’s close to home and it has a great atmosphere within the community,” Dunn said. “I know a lot of the players going there. I’ve played with them and played against them.”

Dunn added that, while he is excited for the challenge, he still needs to improve to be successful at the college level.

“I’m going to have to work hard and step up my game to the next level, spending a lot more time getting in that mindset,” he said.
