TEX BOYS: St. Mark's Junior Jeff Perkins Commits to Dartmouth

January 9th, 2009

St. Mark’s junior attackman Jeff Perkins has verbally committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at Dartmouth College.

Perkins is the first junior in the Lone Star State to commit to a college program for the 2011 season. He also considered Notre Dame, Georgetown and Yale, St. Mark’s head coach Hayward Lee said.

Perkins’ commitment is one of the earliest ever for a boys lacrosse player from Texas.

“I think it shows we play the game at a high level here,” Lee said. “The level of lacrosse in Texas continues to improve, our players continue to improve and our players continue to show more and more polish at an earlier and earlier age.”

Lee called Perkins, “a complete attackman” and said he believes the junior will be a strong Division I player.

“He can score, he can play off-ball and he can assist,” Lee said. “He just does a number of things well. He’s a student of the game and just a great kid. He will be someone who is an asset of character to any program.”

Lee added: “I think he’ll fit really nicely into the Dartmouth program. It’ll be a great fit for him and for the school. I think he’ll contribute in a meaningful way, both with his on-field play as with his character and work ethic off the field.”
