Foothill-Pleasanton senior middie Shane O’Neill has committed to play NCAA Division II lacrosse at Mesa State College.

O’Neill said he also considered California-based Division II programs Notre Dame de Namur and Dominican before settling on the Grand Junction, Colo.-based school. O’Neill said he liked the atmosphere and the positive attitude that surrounds the new program, which will start play in the spring of 2011.

“It just seems like it’s going to be successful,” O’Neill said. “I want to be a part of it.”

O’Neill added that he couldn’t be more excited to take his game to the next level.

“I’m pumped,” he said. “It’s like a dream come true. Everything just came together really nicely.”
