AZ HS: Scott Stemm Steps Down at State Champion Pinnacle

December 16th, 2009

Pinnacle girls varsity head coach Scott Stemm has stepped down after eight seasons with the program.

Stemm led the Patriots to the 2009 Arizona Girls Lacrosse Association state championship, the first lacrosse state title in school history.

He will be replaced by former assistant coach Jim Lindsey.

“Scott is and was more than just a head coach,” Pinnacle assistant coach Greg Ritter said last week at a banquet to celebrate Stemm's career.

“He was a leader, he was father figure to many girls that were missing that, he was a role model to us as coaches and he was a babysitter for kids and coaches. He was a shoulder to cry on and dished out discipline when it was needed. He was the team manager, trainer, scheduler of games and fields, he shagged balls and was a uniform “mom” for those awful plaid kilts.

“He slept on couches at bad hotels on road trips and drove vans full of screaming girls around at tournaments and froze to death at our first camp at Pepperdine. He did all this happily and with great pride. He was the voice of Pinnacle girls lacrosse.”
