SoCAL HS: San Diego Section Moves Title Games for WDNT
April 8th, 2010
The CIF-San Diego Section has pushed its playoffs forward two days this season to accommodate players who will be participating in the girls lacrosse Women’s Division National Tournament, Helix Charter head coach Audrey Wallace said.
This year’s championship games for both boys and girls lacrosse will be staged Thursday May 27 at a yet-to-be determined site, Wallace said.
Since 2007, elite girls lacrosse players who have reached the championship game have had to choose between playing in that game or going to the WDNT event on the East Coast. The WDNT event is the largest recruiting event in the nation for girls lacrosse players.
That will not be the case this season.
“I think it’s a great step forward, but we don’t know what the future is,” Wallace said. “We don’t know if it’s just for this year, so we’re just taking this one step at a time.”
