Sacramento St. Francis senior middie-attack Samantha Bauer has signed a national letter of intent to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at George Washington University.

Bauer said she also considered Villanova, UC Davis and Wagner before settling on the Washington, D.C.-based school.

“I just really, really liked D.C., because I’m really into politics,” Bauer said. “I liked the coaches, and they offered me a great package.

Bauer is one of two West Siders to sign with George Washington. When she gets to the Foggy Bottom campus, she will be joined by Chaparral middie Madison Pohle.

Bauer is a midfielder on her high school team, but she said she will move to attack when she gets to college.

“I’m a little nervous to make the switch to the East Coast because of the level of play,” Bauer said. “But I think it will be a challenge, and I’m up for it.”
