LOU BOYS: Jamie Long, Sam McDaniel Move on to NCAA Lax

October 30th, 2009

Two of last season’s top Louisiana seniors have moved on to play NCAA-sanctioned lacrosse.

Loyola-Shreveport standout attackman Sam McDaniel will play NCAA Division II lacrosse at Pfeiffer University, and Captain Shreve middie Jamie Long has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Southwestern University.

Both McDaniel and Long were Louisiana High School Lacrosse League first-team, All-State selections in 2009.

McDaniel helped lead Loyola-Shreveport to the LHSLL state championship. In the title game, McDaniel registered four points on three goals and an assist, and he was one of the team’s top scoring threats all season.

Long is a member of the first recruiting class for Southwestern University, which will field an NCAA-sanctioned team in 2010 for the first time.
