TEX BOYS: Ryan Fairclough Leads Cedar Park Past St. Stephen's

February 26th, 2009

Senior middie Ryan Fairclough scored a game-high three goals to lead Cedar Park to an 8-3 victory over St. Stephen’s in a Texas High School Lacrosse League Central District Division I game Wednesday night.

Senior attackman Stephen Smith added a pair of goals to help the Timberwolves (3-1) win their third straight. Senior attackman Jason Teal, sophomore middie Tanner Brown and sophomore defenseman Holden Illseng all scored a goal apiece for Cedar Park, which is 2-0 in district.

St. Stephen’s fell to 1-1.

Cedar Park led 3-2 at the end of the first quarter, but then used a five-goal run over the next 24 minutes to take control. The Timberwolves led 6-2 at halftime and 8-2 going into the final 12 minutes.

Cedar Park outshot St. Stephen's, 43-26.

“We have flu and strep throat running rampant through the team,” Cedar Park head coach Chris Knight said. “A lot of the same guys scored, but we had a lot of guys fill in the gaps where we needed it. Our defense was outstanding.”
