NorCAL BOYS: Robby Inch Leads Piedmont Past Marin Catholic

Senior middie Robby Inch registered a game-high six points on five goals and one assist to lead unbeaten Piedmont to a 12-8 victory over Marin Catholic in a CIF-North Coast Section game Monday.
Senior attackman Matt Dobbs added five points on three goals and two assists, sophomore middie Michael Hernandez finished with three points on two goals and one assist and senior middie Mateo Pena-Doll had two points on a goal and an assist to help the Highlanders (4-0) win their fourth straight to start the season.
Senior attackman Zane Myers scored once to round out the offense for Piedmont, which has won its four games by a total of 10 goals.
Defensively, senior goalie Connor Sweeney saved 14 shots.
In defeat, Thomas Rooney finished with three points on two goals and an assist, and Dylan Snyder scored twice for Marin Catholic (0-3), which lost its third straight to start the season.
The game was tied, 3-3, at the end of the first quarter and Piedmont led 6-5 at halftime before the Highlanders took control in the third. Piedmont reeled off four unanswered goals in the 12 minutes immediately following halftime to take a 10-5 lead.
“It’s a great win,” Piedmont head coach Jerem Stothers said. “We really came together. We were down a couple guys on defense, but everyone just rallied around and picked up the slack.”
