March 1st, 2009
Senior middie Scott Moyer scored a game-high seven goals to lead Nebraska to a 15-9 victory over Oklahoma in an MCLA Division I game Sunday morning.
Moyer was on fire this weekend. In two games, he scored 15 goals, including an eight-goal effort during the Cornhuskers’ 21-12 victory over Kansas State on Friday.
Freshman middie Sam Jura added five points on three goals and two assists, freshman attackman Jeff Flemming had a pair of goals and freshman attackman Tony Bates finished with a goal and an assist for Nebraska (4-0), which won its fourth straight.
Defensively, freshman goalie Matt Molinelli saved 14 shots.
Oklahoma fell to 4-4.
The game was tied, 7-7, in the third quarter when Flemming scored the go-ahead goal to put Nebraska ahead to stay with 2:58 remaining. Moyer made it 9-7 just 19 seconds later, and the Cornhuskers rolled from there.
“Our defense has really stepped it up from last year, and our offense has been really clicking,” Nebraska assistant coach Dan Callahan said.
