Sophomore attackman Ty Gallaway registered a game-high three points on two goals and an assist to lead Reagan to a 6-2 victory over Central Catholic in the Texas High School Lacrosse League San Antonio District Division II championship game Sunday afternoon.
Junior attackman Sean Archibald added a goal and an assist to help the Rattlers (12-2) win their first-ever district title. Reagan will be heading to the Division II semifinals for the first time in program history.
“We have come together like no other team I have coached, and we played good, solid lacrosse in every, single game that we’ve played this year,” Reagan head coach Doug Campbell said. “We have a ton of heart.”
Senior attackman Garrett Chubb, senior attackman Tyler Cote and senior middie Walker Flieller all scored once to help round out the offense for Reagan.
Central Catholic, which beat Reagan 5-4 just two weeks ago, finished its season 9-7.
In a rematch of last year’s district championship game, it was tied, 1-1, at the end of the first quarter, Reagan led 2-1 at halftime and the Rattlers led 5-2 at the end of the third quarter.
“We played as a team,” Campbell said. “We did exactly what we planned to do for the last two weeks.”
