COL BOYS: Peter Macartney Commits to Bowdoin College

February 19th, 2010

Colorado Academy senior long-stick middie Peter Macartney has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Bowdoin College.

Macartney said he also considered Dartmouth, Brown, Holy Cross, Colby and Middlebury before he settled on the Brunswick, Maine-based school.

“It’s got a great academic reputation, and I visited it last fall and loved it,” Macartney said. “I’m really looking forward to living in Maine, because I lived in Connecticut when I was little and I wanted to go to the northeast. It just seemed like a good fit.”

Macartney is one of three players from Colorado Academy to commit to NCAA programs. Senior defenseman Russ Wilson is heading to Division II Colby, and senior goalie Jordan Ulrich is heading to Division II Le Moyne.

“I don’t really know what to expect,” Macartney said. “I’ve never seen a DIII game played. I’m just going to go into it with an open mind.”
