SoCAL BOYS: Palisades Charter Downs Culver City in Opener

Junior attackman Evan Shaner registered a game-high five points on three goals and two assists to lead Palisades Charter to an 11-2 victory over Culver City in a Southern California CIF intersectional game Monday night.

Junior attackman Warren Satz had three points on a goal and two assists, and junior middie Shane Centkowski finished with three points on a goal and two assists to help the Los Angeles City Section Dolphins (1-0) roll to a decisive, season-opening victory.

Junior middie Max Tinglof and junior attackman Max Groel each scored twice, senior middie Charlie Bailey had a goal and an assist and junior attackman Vince Van Norden scored once to round out the offense for Palisades Charter.

Defensively, junior goalie Turner Hanley saved eight shots.

Southern Section Culver City (0-1) lost its season opener.

Palisades Charter led 1-0 at the end of the first quarter, and the Dolphins used a six-goal second quarter to take a 7-0 at halftime lead. It was 9-2 at the end of the third.

“We’re still getting our offense together,” Palisades Charter head coach Scott Hylen said. “We played a really good transition game, and the defense is playing real tough, physical, man-to-man D.”
