KAN BOYS: Olathe Downs Shawnee Mission East in Opener

Junior attackman Trevor Ecton registered a game-high four points on three goals and an assist to lead Olathe to a 10-5 victory over Shawnee Mission East in a Lacrosse Association of Kansas game Thursday.
Junior attackman Logan Smith added three goals, sophomore middie Brett Wilson dished three assists and sophomore middie Joel Wagner had a pair of goals to help Olathe (1-0) win its season opener.
Senior middie Trey Freeman and junior long-stick middie Ryan Albright each added single goals for Olathe.
Shawnee Mission East (0-1) dropped its season opener.
Olathe led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter, 7-2 at halftime and 7-4 at the end of the third quarter before starting the fourth with three straight goals to put it away.
“We had some penalty issues, but all in all, first game, I think we did well,” Olathe head coach Joel Henning said. “We came together as a team and played well, so we’ll just build from there.”
