Junior attackman Logan Smith added three goals, sophomore middie Brett Wilson dished three assists and sophomore middie Joel Wagner had a pair of goals to help Olathe (1-0) win its season opener.

Senior middie Trey Freeman and junior long-stick middie Ryan Albright each added single goals for Olathe.

Shawnee Mission East (0-1) dropped its season opener.

Olathe led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter, 7-2 at halftime and 7-4 at the end of the third quarter before starting the fourth with three straight goals to put it away.

“We had some penalty issues, but all in all, first game, I think we did well,” Olathe head coach Joel Henning said. “We came together as a team and played well, so we’ll just build from there.”
