MEN: NDNU's Top Point Producer Transfers to Chapman

August 27th, 2009

Former two-time WSL Nevada Boys Player of the Year Nick Campo has transferred to MCLA Division I Chapman University from NCAA Division II Notre Dame de Namur.

Campo, a junior attackman, will be eligible to play right away for the Panthers, who have advanced to the MCLA Division I national championship game two consecutive seasons.

Campo started all nine games for NDNU as a sophomore, compiling a team-high 24 points on 11 goals and 13 assists.

NDNU is a program in transition after head coach Joe Kerwin stepped down over the summer. According to sources, three finalists -- Bruce Dini, Gary Podesta and Curt Foxx -- are being considered for the NDNU position.

“There was instability at NDNU, Nick wanted to stay in California and he wanted to play for a national championship,” said Nick’s father Gary Campo, who also coached his son in high school. “Chapman offered all those things. It was a pretty easy move for him.”
