Five-time defending national champion Northwestern will travel to San Diego for the second straight year when it plays the University of Massachusetts as part of the second-annual Surfside Cup next month at Rancho Bernardo High School.

This year’s event, which will take place Feb. 6-7, will also include a preseason high school tournament and instructional clinics. The Northwestern-UMass game will be played Feb. 6 at 8 p.m. The game will be the season opener for both teams.

Last year’s event drew approximately 3,000 fans and participants.
