TEX HS: Nolan Godfrey Leaves St. Andrew's for Plano
Plano High School has named Nolan Godfrey as the new head coach of its boys varsity lacrosse team.
Godfrey replaces Kevin MacGibbon, who stepped down at the end of the 2009 season.
A former professional lacrosse player, Godfrey has played in the National Lacrosse League for the Buffalo Bandits and in Major League Lacrosse for the Boston Cannons and Philadelphia Barrage. As a college player, he was a second-team All-American selection in 2005 at the NCAA Division II level as a face-off specialist at Merrimack College.
Godfrey was the head coach at Austin-based St. Andrew’s last season.
“I am very grateful and excited for the opportunity Plano has given me with taking the lead of their program,” Godfrey said in a statement posted to the Plano team Web site.
“The Plano system has a strong tradition of success in the powerful North District, which stems from its great coaching lineage, sustained parental support and exceptional athletes and dedicated lacrosse players that have reached the top levels of NCAA lacrosse.”
