Senior attackman Sam Baker scored the game-winning goal with 58 seconds remaining in double-overtime to give No. 8 Oregon Episcopal School a thrilling, 9-8 victory over No. 14 Lincoln in an Oregon High School Lacrosse Association Columbia Conference game Tuesday night.
Baker, who finished with a game-high six points on three goals and three assists, took a skip pass from senior middie Michael Gale, dodged a defender and fired home the clincher from just off the crease to give the Aardvarks (16-0, 12-0 Columbia Conference) the conference title outright.
OES beat Lincoln for the second time this season, also having won 9-5 on April 22.
“I’m just proud of the entire group,” OES head coach Dennis Sullivan said. “We had a lot of kids step up and play good ball. I think the difference was our seniors. I’m just really excited for them to win the league outright and be able to beat Lincoln a second time.”
Junior attackman Peter Williams and freshman attackman Trevor Garner each scored twice, Gale had a goal and an assist and senior middie Nathan Hayes scored once for the Aardvarks.
Defensively, senior goalie Andrew Parker saved 17 shots, including five during the two overtime periods.
In defeat, senior attackman Matt Fettig had a team-high four points on three goals and one assist, senior Peter Baum scored three goals and sophomore middie Tony Baum and freshman attackman Grant Clifford each had a goal and an assist for Lincoln (16-4, 10-2).
In the cage, senior goalie Logan Ellis saved 14 shots.
The game was tied, 2-2, at the end of the first quarter, Lincoln led 4-3 at halftime and the game was tied, 5-5, at the end of the third quarter.
OES led 8-7 in the waning moments of regulation, but Fettig scored with just 11 seconds remaining to force overtime.
The teams then played more than seven minutes of scoreless lacrosse before Baker scored the decider.
“This was a great lacrosse game,” Lincoln head coach Will Harris said. “I thought the intensity by our guys was great. We played much better than in our first encounter, and I thought this game could have gone either way.”

future of oregon lax
Lincoln and OES are legit, but Lakeridge will win a state title in the next 2-3 years because the freshman are sick. but also dont forget about sunset, jesuit, lake oswego, and west linn, they are legit to. but the pacer frosh are sicker than the sunset, jesuit, lo, and west linn frosh. and possibly lincoln and OES considering JV2 beat both lincoln and oes easily and lakeridge jv1(where all the good frosh are) beat lincoln 5-2 with a bad game and beat OES 7-3.
maybe. lakeridge did have the
maybe. lakeridge did have the best JV team this year. You guys were definately good.
but you need to keep in mind that lincoln only played 14 players against OES in the game that went into 2OTs. 8 will be back next year and 5 were frosh or soph. i wonder if the lakeridge frosh of sophs from JV could hang like that with the OES varsity?
keep in mind that most all of the good frosh and sophs made varsity already and lincoln played no varsity against lakeridge. they had a game that same day somewhere else.
 oes brought down 6 varsity
oes brought down 6 varsity players to play lakeridge JV1 and lakeridge still beat them easily, and lincoln brought down some to
noo...
lincoln didn't swing anybody down all season...
Sick Lacrosse!
both of these teams are sick. no way to tell who will beat who in the finals...and anyone that doesnt think these guys will collide in the finals for a second straight year isn't thinking clearly or is smok'in something. there should really be three divisions this year: 1) OES and Lincoln (they should just play each other 16 time a year and not bother themselves with the rest of us), 2) the next 4 or 5 whoever's and 3) everyone else.
