ORE BOYS: OHSLA Semis: No. 7 OES Rolls Past Lake Oswego

Freshman attackman Trevor Garner scored a game-high three goals to lead No. 7 Oregon Episcopal School to a 10-2 victory over host Lake Oswego in an Oregon High School Lacrosse Association semifinal Wednesday night.

Senior middie Michael Gale and junior attackman Peter Williams each added three points on two goals and one assist to help the Aardvarks (19-0) win their 19th straight and advance to the Oregon state championship game for the seventh straight season.

OES, which has lost in the state-title game four consecutive years, will be going for its first state title since 2004 when it faces No. 10 Lincoln on Saturday night, June 6, at 7:30 p.m., PDT, at Lake Oswego High School.

In the regular season, OES beat Lincoln 9-8 in overtime on May 19 and 9-5 on April 22.

The game will be a rematch of last year’s state championship, which Lincoln won 6-5.

Since 2003, the Aardvarks are 1-5 in state championship games.

“I’m not really worried about that,” OES head coach Dennis Sullivan said. “My kids have won close games. I’m worried about Saturday and playing four quarters of lacrosse. This senior class is extremely focused. They know nothing’s going to be given to them, and they have to do everything right.”

On Wednesday, senior middie Nathan Hayes added a pair of goals, and sophomore middie Zach Shainsky scored once for the Aardvarks.

Defensively, senior goalie Andrew Parker saved seven shots.

Lake Oswego finished the season 15-6.

OES led 4-1 at the end of the first quarter, 6-1 at halftime and controlled the second half.

“I was really excited with how well we worked on ground balls,” Sullivan said. “We executed our offense very well.”
