ORE-WASH BOYS: No. 22 Issaquah Dispatches Portland Jesuit

March 14th, 2010

Senior attackman Todd Jones registered a game-high six points on three goals and three assists to lead No. 22 Issaquah to a 14-7 victory over Portland Jesuit in an Oregon vs. Washington interstate game Saturday afternoon north of the border.

Junior attackman Jake Fritz added four points on three goals and one assist, junior middie Kevin Powers scored three goals and sophomore middie Duncan Hamilton had three points on two goals and one assist for Issaquah (1-0), which won its season opener.

Three others scored once to round out the offense.

Portland Jesuit (0-3) lost its third straight to start the season.

Portland Jesuit came out strong, scoring the game’s opening two goals. But Issaquah quickly recovered to take a 5-3 lead by the end of the first quarter. Issaquah led 9-3 at halftime and 11-6 going into the fourth before comfortably cruising toward the finish line.

“We came out super flat and got down, so I was proud that we didn’t panic and played through it,” Issaquah head coach Brandon Fortier said. “There was definitely some sloppy play at times, but the guys I expect to lead the way did. It’s a good opening win for us against a quality non-league opponent.”
