COL BOYS: CHSAA Playoffs: Arapahoe Downs Ft. Collins, 10-5
May 16th, 2010
Senior attackman Hunter Hall and sophomore attackman Bryce Parietti each registered a co-game-high five points to lead No. 2 Arapahoe to a 10-5 victory over Fort Collins Unified in a Colorado High School Activities Association quarterfinal Saturday afternoon at Regis Jesuit.
Hall scored four goals and added one assist, and Parietti finished with three goals and two assists, as the top-seeded Warriors (16-1) won their 29 straight game against in-state competition and advanced to the state semifinals.
Defending state champion Arapahoe will next face fifth-seeded Regis Jesuit as part of a state semifinal doubleheader on Wednesday at Englewood High School. In the teams’ only regular-season meeting, Arapahoe beat Regis Jesuit, 14-7, on April 12.
Arapahoe has won 12 straight games overall, and the Warriors have beaten Regis Jesuit three straight times over the past two seasons.
“It’s going to be really difficult,” Arapahoe head coach Guy Cerasoli said. “We have our work cut out for us.”
On Saturday, senior attackman Greg Colosimo dished a pair of assists, and sophomore middie Jack Bozien, senior middie Dylan Smith and junior middie Brett Menter all scored once to round out the offense for Arapahoe.
Eighth-seeded Fort Collins Unified finished the season 10-7.
Arapahoe led 1-0 at the end of the first quarter, 6-3 at halftime and 8-4 at the end of the third quarter.
“I thought we played pretty well,” Cerasoli said. “Our offense executed our game plan to a T and performed well against a top-notch defense.”
