COL GIRLS: CHSAA Playoffs: Columbine Eliminates Centaurus

Junior middie Lauren Snow registered a game-high six points on five goals and one assist to lead No. 16 Columbine to a 13-9 victory over No. 23 Centaurus in a Colorado High School Activities Association quarterfinal Tuesday night.
Senior attack Annie Larson added four points on two goals and two assists, and junior middie Christen Neugebauer scored three goals to help the undefeated Rebels (17-0) win their 17th straight and advance to the state semifinals.
Fourth-seeded Columbine will next face the winner of the Cherry Creek-Mullen quarterfinal, which was postponed Tuesday. The top-seeded Bruins and eighth-seeded Mustangs will now square off Thursday at 5 p.m., MDT. The state semifinals will be played Saturday, May 22.
On Tuesday, junior middie Maddie Tedford and sophomore attack Paige Amme each finished with a goal and an assist, and junior attack Maggie Ahrendsen scored once to round out the offense for Columbine.
In the cage, sophomore goalie Jenna Hofmann saved 10 shots.
In defeat, Emma Lazaroff and Gabby Wallace each scored three goals for the fifth-seeded Warriors, who finished the season 12-4. Centaurus lost to Columbine for the second time this season.
Columbine led 7-2 at halftime and maintained a lead throughout the second half.
“I was really excited,” Columbine head coach Alise Steiner said. “My team finally put a whole game together. We made smart decisions offensively today.”
