NorCAL BOYS: Foothill, De La Salle Share EBAL Championship
Senior attackman Broc Schall scored a game-high three goals to lead No. 15 Foothill-Pleasanton to a 10-4 victory over No. 17 Amador Valley in a CIF-North Coast Section East Bay Athletic League game Friday night.
Senior middie Michael Lambrecht added three points on two goals and an assist to help the Falcons (15-4, 11-3 EBAL) clinch a share of the league title for the first time since 2005. Foothill and No. 16 De La Salle tied for first place in the most heated and contested title chase in league history.
“It’s huge, because the competition is so high in the EBAL,” Foothill head coach Bob McManus said. “What’s really satisfying is coming back here at the end of the year and beating two teams, San Ramon Valley and Amador Valley, who beat us the first time around.
“We feel like we’re still getting better and peaking in time for the playoffs.”
Senior middie Christian Dutcher scored twice, senior attackman Scott Wheaton and junior middie Colin Kacinski each had a goal and an assist, and junior attackman Gabe Garcia scored once to round out the offense for Foothill.
In the cage, junior goalie Ben Krebs saved 14 shots in three quarters.
In defeat, junior attackman Mitch Flaherty and senior attackman Pace Cranney each scored twice for Amador Valley (13-7, 9-5).
Foothill led 4-1 at the end of the first quarter, 6-2 at halftime and 9-3 going into the final 12 minutes.
“We had a great game,” McManus said. “We were in control pretty much the whole game.”
