ORE BOYS: OHSLA Playoffs: No. 14 Lincoln Routs Thurston

Colgate-bound senior middie Peter Baum registered a game-high eight points on three goals and five assists to lead No. 14 Lincoln to an 18-4 victory over Thurston in an Oregon High School Lacrosse Association second-round playoff game Wednesday.
Junior attackman Matthew Fettig added six points on five goals and one assist, freshman attackman Michael Marcott had four points on two goals and two assists and junior middie Henry Schoonmaker scored three goals to help the Cardinals (17-4) advance to the state quarterfinals.
Lincoln will next host the winner of Wednesday night’s Lakeridge-Liberty game on Friday, May 29.
On Wednesday, senior middie Danny Metcalf and freshman attackman Grant Clifford each scored twice, and sophomore middie Tony Baum had a goal and an assist to round out the scoring for Lincoln.
Thurston finished the season 10-9.
Lincoln, which was heavily favored, rolled from the start. The Cardinals led 6-1 at the end of the first quarter, 12-2 at halftime and 16-3 at the end of the third quarter.
“My team played very well in transition,” Lincoln head coach Will Harris said. “We were very effective passing and finishing on the break.”
