TEX GIRLS: No. 14 Houston Episcopal Rolls Past Memorial
March 11th, 2010
Junior middie Drew Cowan registered a game-high five points on four goals and one assist to lead No. 14 Houston Episcopal to a 13-5 victory over Memorial in a Texas Girls High School Lacrosse League South District Division I game Wednesday.
Junior middie Kimberly Khourie, junior middie Alex Perouty and senior attack Annie Langford all added a pair of goals to help the unbeaten Knights (3-0) win their third straight to start the season.
Junior attack Leigh Lausen finished with a goal and an assist, and senior attack Abbie Jackson and junior middie Blakely Hamblen each scored once to round out the offense for Houston Episcopal.
Defensively, junior goalie Kitty Benson saved nine shots.
Memorial (4-2) lost its second straight.
Houston Episcopal stormed out to an 8-2 halftime lead before Memorial answered with back-to-back goals to start the second half to close within 8-4. But that was as close as it would get, as the Knights finished the game on a 5-1 run.
“It wasn’t our best game, stick-still wise, but we came out with the win and we’re obviously happy about that,” Houston Episcopal assistant coach Melissa Millin said. “Memorial is one of our biggest competitors in the city standings, so we’re really happy about the win.”
