February 21st, 2010
Senior attackman Louis LaCour registered a game-high six points on five goals and one assist to lead New Orleans Jesuit to a come-from-behind, 13-11 victory over St. Thomas More in a Louisiana High School Lacrosse League game Saturday morning.
Junior attackman Mac Bulloch added five points on three goals and two assists, senior middie Kaleb Boudreaux scored twice and junior attack-middie Bryan Kitto had a goal and an assist to help the Blue Jays (2-0) come from three goals down in the fourth quarter to win their second straight to start the season.
In a losing effort, junior attackman Saban Sellers had a team-high five points on four goals and an assist, and senior attackman Spencer Todd finished with three points on a goal and two assists for St. Thomas More (4-1), which had its four-game winning streak snapped.
Senior attackman Joe Boustany and junior middie Michael Leonpacher each scored twice, and senior attackman Chad Becnel dished a pair of assists for the Cougars.
In a back-and-forth game, New Orleans Jesuit led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter, the game was tied, 5-5, at halftime and St. Thomas More led 8-6 at the end of the third quarter.
The Cougars extended their lead to 9-6 after Todd scored early in the fourth quarter, but the Blue Jays rallied to finish the game on a 7-2 run.
“STM’s always a great rivalry,” New Orleans Jesuit head coach Mike Brantley said. “Our guys were making dumb mistakes, to be honest. They were doing everything we tell them not to do. We got serious (in the fourth quarter) and were determined not to lose.”
